Kimball
Camp YMCA Nature Center has an exciting, fun-filled
summer awaiting you! Campers will have the opportunity
to climb to new heights on Goliath, our 40-foot climbing
tower or increase their self-esteem and team-building
skills on our Ropes Courses!
The
rich camp traditions of over 70 years influence current
programming at Kimball Camp YMCA Nature Center. Once
campers arrive, they begin to realize they are part
of a community linked together by common experiences.
Through exciting summer programs emphasizing the values
of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility, Kimball
Camp YMCA strives to help your child grow spiritually,
mentally and physically. |
Making
new friends and building on renewed friendships are high
points of the camping experience. Kimball Camp offers
a wide variety of activities that build confidence and cooperation. Each
camping session is divided into units for different age levels.
Younger campers are guided through a variety of experiences;
older campers choose between specialized, progressive
challenges.

This year, all Summer Camp weeks run
from Sunday to Friday evening. We encourage parents
and their families to join us for a closing campfire
and a hotdog dinner at 5:00 p.m. Campers and staff will
share a short program. Check out is 6:00 p.m. All campers
need to be checked out between 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. |

Trailblazers |
Ages:
6 - 9 years old |

Trailblazers
Camp provides a fun packed, shortened version
of our Adventure Camp. Campers enjoy archery,
arts and crafts, climbing our tower, games, swimming,
stories and songs. Trailblazer campers
make new friends and experience a fun, overnight
camping adventure. Small groups travel
with their counselor through the day, getting
a chance to try all of the traditional activities.

Kimball
Camp’s most popular program is still the highlight
for hundreds of kids. Activities include
archery, arts and crafts, basketball, campfires,
canoeing, chapels, climbing our 40-foot tower,
nature hikes, swimming, making friends and great
food! Campers get to choose three activity
periods, giving them a chance to try the different
opportunities and build skills and self confidence. |

Ages:

Horse
Camp: In
partnership with Wingate Farms in Hillsdale,
campers will spend mornings learning the basic
horsemanship skills, including saddling, walking,
trotting, leading and caring for a horse. They
will return for lunch and have the rest of
the afternoon and evening to enjoy the many
exciting adventures here at camp.
Summer
Kick Off: School's
Out and there's no better way to start the summer
than meeting up with your friends at Kimball
Camp YMCA! Join us for 3 night and 4 days of
action packed adventure. We'll have a different
theme each night to spice up your first week
of summer! |
| Summer Celebration): Spend
your first 3 nights in the rustic shelters, making
smores over the open fire. On Wednesday pack
up your things for an exciting 2 night adventure
at one of the nation's greatest theme parks, Cedar
Point! |

New
Adventures |
Ages:
12 - 17 years old |
|
|
New
Adventurers is geared just for teens! You’ll
have fun boating, climbing the wall, experiencing
the new High Ropes Course, playing action packed
games, cooking out and making new friends. Our
chapel speakers will talk about issues that you
can relate to and challenge you to make a difference
in your lives. Also, each New Adventurers
camp will include an off camp trip like an all
day canoe or biking trip with overnight campout.

Leaders
In Training (LIT) |
Ages:
13 - 17 years old |
|
|
This
special camp is designed to teach teens leadership
skills. These skills include spiritual
leadership, communication, trust, encouragement
and more. These camps will include teambuilding,
our challenge courses and evening devotionals. LITs
will also learn what it takes to be a counselor
and assist with a few days of Day Camp. LITs
will also enjoy an off-camp trip, either to Cedar
Pointe or White Water Rafting in West Virginia. This
program requires an additional application form. |

Camp |
Ages: 7

Specialty
Camp combines the excitement of Adventure Camp
with a daily three hour clinic to develop a specific
skill. This year, campers can choose from: Target
Sports, Basketball, Challenge Courses, Video/Photography, Gymnastics,
Outdoor Survival skills, and Everything Aquatic.New
options for this year are Fishing and Flag Football.
During your fishing clinic you will learn how
to bait your hook, cast out your line, and catch
a whopper! Flag Football will teach you the skills
necessary to work out plays, catch and throw
the football, and be part of a team. |

Location
and Site Kimball
Camp YMCA is located three miles from Reading, Michigan
on a beautiful 100+-acre site overlooking Long Lake. A
beautiful lake, flowing stream, forest areas, restored
farmland and a 38-acre Nature Preserve are all part of
the scenery at Kimball Camp.

The
facilities include cabins and shelters for
group living, with two modern bathroom and shower buildings
serving each cabin area. Inyo Lodge,
the main office and meeting area, boasts a modern
Dining Hall, newly renovated kitchen and a large
deck overlooking the waterfront. Program
areas include an Arts and Crafts room, Nature
Center, trails,
full waterfront, athletic fields and much more!
Kimball
Camp YMCA Nature Center has excellent equipment to
provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all campers.

Safety
- All
activities are well-supervised by trained Program staff
and Counselors that have certification in First Aid,
CPR, and, in the case of aquatic activities, Lifeguarding.
- Campers
are taught proper care and respect for each other, nature
and equipment.
- Proper
safety equipment is provided for adventure activities.
- Watercraft
activities always require the wearing of lifejackets.
The
well-being of each child is our first concern.
Kimball
Camp YMCA HousingThe
center of the Kimball Camp experience is each group of 12-14
campers and two counselors. Younger campers stay in cabins
with bunk-beds, electricity and a ceiling fan. Bathrooms
and shower facilities are conveniently located in another
building close to the cabins.Our
New Adventure campers sleep in shelters, three season enclosed
buildings with curtains and screens. Each New Adventurer
unit features a central bonfire pit, clotheslines and meeting
area. Modern bathhouses are located within walking
distance of the shelters. Our
Leaders In Training program participants stay in the Thunderbird
Ridge, a modern building with two bunkhouse-style wings that
sleeps 24 total. Personal bathrooms are attached to
each side of the Ridge, featuring all of the modern conveniences. Registration Kimball
Camp YMCA Nature Center is open for all children, regardless
of race, creed, age, handicap or national origin. Registration
will be processed by mail, fax or in person and must be accompanied
by a $75.00 deposit to hold a spot. No telephone registrations
will be processed. Fax copies will only be accepted
with a credit card number included for the deposit. Program

Based on available resources, the YMCA provides financial
assistance through the generous donations of those in our
community.
Campers who need financial assistance are
encouraged to participate in the annual Candy
Sale before contacting us for aid. (Preference
is given to campers who attempt to earn their way to camp.) Applications
