Whether you are an individual looking for an exciting time, a group looking for a new experience, a business owner looking for a way to build teamwork among your staff, or a school looking for a program to build self confidence and leadership skills in your students, Kimball Camp YMCA has a program for you!

Our Ropes Courses have been created to provide a wide range of experiential opportunities, and our staff are willing to tailor programs to meet your organizations specific objectives!

The Kimball Camp YMCA Nature Center builds and empowers successful teams by presenting your group with exciting and progressive challenges in a natural outdoor setting.

What is Teambuilding?

Teambuilding programs vary depending upon the program you attend and the philosophy they promote.  Activities at each site can range from energetic and physical experiences designed for groups looking to experience a "risk" to a more sedentary, intellectual program.

What most of these programs have in common is the belief that team concepts and skills are best taught through experiences, rather than traditional, meeting-room training methods.  The principles are abstract, and often require change in perception for people to "get it."  Like learning to ride a bike, these programs offer groups opportunities to practice, experiment and get immediate feedback.  Through reflection and discussion, groups learn what works and what does not.  Since the activities they are involved in have no real consequences, groups can engage in open and honest discussion.  They can then capture and transfer learning to actual life applications.

Our Programs

At Kimball Camp YMCA, we offer a comprehensive "curriculum" of teambuilding formats. Each program is specifically tailored to meet the goals and objectives of the group and offer an experience that is uniquely suited to the client.

We offer programs ranging from the traditional activities like Ropes Courses, Climbing Towers and other challenges, to the more exotic options like Mystery Weekends and much more.  Our programs can last as little as two hours or all day.  Program costs vary with the number of participants, meals, and length of stay.

Our Facilities

Located just north of Reading, MI, we are easily accessed by Indiana 80-90 Toll Road, Interstate 69 and US 12.

Our teambuilding facilities include:

Goliath

Goliath is a 40-foot, 10-sided climbing tower.  Activities on Goliath range from bouldering (working your way around the tower as opposed to up); positive (gentle slope), vertical (straight up) and negative (inverted) climbs and multiple rappelling stations.

High Confidence Course

The High Confidence Course is a series of obstacles arranged 40-feet off the ground.  Participants in full mountain climbing gear choose their own course and, aided and encouraged by their peers, push their own limits in a "Challenge By Choice" format.  For those who make it through, their experience ends with a 100-foot zip-line to reach the ground.

High Teams Course

While similar to the High Confidence Course, the High Teams Course allows teammates to work together to challenge the obstacle.  With obstacles ranging from 15 - 40 feet in the air, you and your teammates will discover a new level of cooperation and trust as you learn to overcome your perceived limitations.

Low Ropes Course

Low Ropes are a series of over 20 obstacles permanently situated in the forest and fields around Kimball Camp.  These activities range from simple to challenging both mentally and physically.  Groups will encounter greater tests as they progress through the course and, if time and ability allows, will have the opportunity to challenge our two final obstacles:  "Trust Fall" and "Team Wall".

Located just outside of Reading, Michigan, we offer a chance to explore the beauty of the out-of-doors as you build your team. We have  eight spacious, winterized cabins with a capacity of 17.  In the middle of each cabin area is a centralized bathhouse with modern conveniences.

Groups may also choose to rent the Thunderbird Ridge, a building with two bunkhouse-style wings that can sleep up to 12 people per side and includes its own bathroom facilities inside the building. In addition, we offer ample indoor meeting space to make our quality programs available fall, winter and spring. Our modern Dining Hall facility, offers nutritious, well-balanced meals and a variety of banquet-style offerings.

Teambuilding Staff

The Kimball Camp YMCA Teambuilding Staff is dedicated to making your visit a successful one. Our staff  have gone through training to be able to relate to specific groups and many have extensive experience working with a specific type of group.  All of our staff undergo training and re-certification on an annual basis, with frequent in-services to cover special programs and populations.

Program Accessibility

Within available resources and to a reasonable extent, Kimball Camp YMCA will provide quality program experiences for persons with special needs. With respect to any program for which a disability may have a bearing on an applicant’s participation, Kimball Camp asks that all groups inform them of any disabilities or impairments.  This information is required for the YMCA to determine its ability to appropriately accommodate each individual. Upon request, a confidential consultation with a YMCA Director will be arranged.

Individualized Programming

At Kimball Camp YMCA, we offer a wide range of activities and program options. We believe strongly that one size does not fit all. We want to work with your organization to tailor a program to meet your specific goals and objectives. We can even develop specialized programs to cover activities not currently offered in our catalog. For more information, please contact us at (517) 283 - 2168. We look forward to creating a program to meet your needs.
