Convenient Location
The Kimball Camp YMCA Nature Center is an ideal location to introduce students to the wonders of the natural world. Located in Reading, Michigan, just 15 minutes from the Indiana and Ohio borders, the Kimball Camp YMCA Nature Center is centrally located for all of the cities in south-central Michigan. We are a short drive by Interstate or major highway from each of the following cities:

Beautiful Surroundings
From dark, quiet pine forests to a magnificent Fall color walk under beech trees, Kimball Camp YMCA has it all. Our facility includes a designated nature preserve and offers guests the chance to see wildlife up close. While walking by the lake, across the field or along the stream you might see a fox, red-tailed hawk, white-tailed deer or even an owl.
Comfortable Accommodations
Cabins
Kimball Camp YMCA Nature Center has eight modern cabins which can sleep 17 adults comfortably. A nearby bathhouse provides restroom and shower facilities for each cluster of four cabins. Groups may also choose to use the double-occupancy Lodge rooms, with public restrooms just across the hall.
Thunderbird Ridge
Smaller groups that are looking to stay close together should consider the Thunderbird Ridge. The Ridge has two bunkhouse-style sleeping rooms, each capable of sleeping twelve, with attached bathroom and shower facilities.
Rustic Camping Sites
For program participants looking for a more rustic camping experience, we offer shelters (3-season cabins) and campsites that are available for rent.

The campsites are situated on the field near our pavilion and include running water and electricity. Bathrooms and showers are located in the Lodge.

Our shelters are available for those seeking a more primitive camping experience but don't want to bring their own tents. Each area has at least one electrical outlet, with water sources and bathrooms located nearby.
Meeting Amenities
Kimball Camp YMCA
can provide a variety of supplies to enhance your meeting, retreat or
conference. Items available upon request include: dry-erase board, easels,
overhead projector, projection screen, slide projector and TV/VCR. Items
available for a small rental fee include: DVD Player, flip-chart paper,
laptop, LCD projector and a portable PA system. Let us know how youd like
your meeting space arranged and the Kimball Camp Staff will have everything
ready before you arrive.
We have numerous
large outdoor meeting spaces capable of seating over 200 participants, each
with electricity and within easy walking distance of the cabin areas.
We also offer a selection of indoor meeting spaces for groups of all sizes:
Smaller Groups (Up to 20)
For our retreat groups that are smaller in number we offer a wide-range of meeting areas. From the Nature Den, with its rustic setting and plant and animal displays to Katimivic, with its large windows and open area, we have the room that is right for you. For groups looking for a craft area that can get "dirty", we also offer our Arts and Crafts building. Groups under 10 may choose to use the Staff Conference Room in the Kitchen for a more relaxed environment.
Mid-Sized Groups (21 to 99)

For our retreat groups that are mid-size, we offer one of the finest meeting rooms on the camp. The basement of the Lodge offers comfortable surroundings, a professional work environment and modern equipment. Tables and chairs can be arranged in any fashion desired to meet your specific needs. |

Large
Groups (100 - 220)
|
For our large groups, we proudly offer our Main Lodge and Dining Hall areas. With portable multimedia equipment, a discreet PA system and unlimited possibilities for arranging tables and chairs, the Lodge and Dining Hall are the place to be. For a more rustic atmosphere, a crackling fire can be built in the large, stone fireplace. |

Quality Food Service
Our Food Service
Staff takes pride in preparing delicious, nutritious meals ranging from
typical camp fare to our new premium menu. Groups may arrange to have a vegetarian
option available and we will even work to customize a menu based on your
special dietary requirements. Homemade desserts as well as fresh fruits and
vegetables compliment the menu. Meals are served buffet style in our Dining Hall. For an additional charge the Food Service Staff
will prepare one of our premium meals for your group. Please call to make
arrangements.
Recreational Activities
Recreation is an important part of any group experience at Kimball Camp YMCA. From campfires beside the lake to hiking trails, we have activities that are fun for all ages and abilities.

The Kimball Camp Staff are available to lead a variety of different programs for your group depending on the time of the year. A few of our program options include: campfires, carnivals, nature hikes, and night hikes. We also offer a wide-range of teambuilding programs, including High Ropes and Goliath, our 40-foot climbing tower! Activities like boating and swimming are offered during May through September. In the winter, Kimball Camp YMCA offers a sledding hill and more! |
